LIMA PULSE

Programme / Day 2

LIMA PULSE · Day 2A

Triage & prioritisation

ONSET decides who goes first. NEWS2 tells you who is getting worse. Al Shifa is where the decision is written down — and the respiratory-rate field exists, so the number must be counted.

Nurse-led · ~85 minutes · 8 critical-knowledge questions before and after

At our centre
  • Who assigns the category: the named, triage-trained nurse of the shift. Unsure → choose the higher category, then ask the doctor. A category is lowered only after a doctor has assessed the patient.
  • Target times (ONSET levels as applied in the MOH Al Masarra Hospital emergency guideline, 2025): Category 1 immediate · Category 2 doctor within 10 min · Category 3 nurse reassesses at least every 30 min · Category 4 at least every 90 min until seen.
  • Al Shifa: Triage Category 0 = Code Blue (cardiac arrest).

Final edition · v2.0 · 18 October 2026. Oman MOH policy and approved local protocols take precedence; device details follow the manufacturer’s instructions; resuscitation follows AHA 2025 (never mixed with ERC).
